Mike graduated from Idaho State University in 1995 with a degree in business finance. His first job was with an insurance company, servicing and selling auto and homeowners insurance. His goal was always to work in banking, so he soon took a job with a finance company and learned the ropes of interest rates and lending. In 1998, Mike landed his first job in mortgage lending. Between 1998 and now, he has worked for two local credit unions as a mortgage loan officer and mortgage manager, and has also managed a stand-alone mortgage brokerage office.

In 2009, Mike was offered the job he currently holds as a mortgage loan officer at Advantage Plus Federal Credit Union. It has become the best job he’s ever had. Mike’s commitment to providing excellent service and products is shared by his employer. Working for a local credit union offers unmatched advantages, enabling him to deliver on his clients’ expectations.

Mike feels it is important to conduct his business by “under-promising and over-delivering.” He doesn’t feel it is fair to anyone to tell a buyer he can do something when he doesn’t know for sure if he can. By keeping this rule, he ensures that his clients never arrive at closing surprised that their interest rate or closing fees are higher than they were originally quoted. In fact, many of Mike’s customers close their home loans and find that he secured a better deal than they originally thought.

When Mike began working as a mortgage loan officer, he knew his success would come only from understanding what his customers wanted: honest, friendly, well-priced service from a down-to-earth person who cares about his clients. He also knew this was a “people” business:  If Mike provides great service to his clients, they will refer their friends to him. Mike’s goal is to EARN his clients’ referrals, not to expect them. He loves Southeast Idaho and wants his business to reflect the integrity and values that the great people who live here share and believe.
