We're Upgrading Your Debit Card!

Advantage Plus FCU will be adding a Dual Interface Chip to new debit cards so you can make contactless payments at compatible payment terminals.

Some members have received new cards in the mail. Other debit cards will be replaced as old cards expire. If you have already received your new card, please call the number on the back to activate it.

Make sure your contact info is up to date

If you have moved since becoming a member, please let your local branch know so we can update your mailing address. Your new debit card may have been sent back to us if your mailing address is not current.

For security reasons, you must call using your primary phone number to activate your new debit card. If your primary phone number has changed, please let your local branch know so we can update it.

Update your saved debit card info

Some websites, such as Amazon, Venmo, and Netflix, allow you to save your card info for faster shopping and automatic payments. Once your new card is activated, you will need to update your expiration date and any other info that has changed anywhere you have your debit card info saved.

Contact us if you need help

If you have any questions or need assistance with your debit card, please email us at [email protected] or contact your local branch.

How a Dual Interface Chip Card Works

Credit and debit cards have traditionally required a user to swipe the card through an electronic terminal. This allows the terminal to read the magnetic strip on the back of the card, which contains identifying information about the account.

The dual interface chip card is a type of smart card with an embedded chip that can facilitate both contact and contactless transactions (aka tap-and-pay). Equipped with a hidden antenna, a contactless card allows users to wave their card in front of a reader to pay for an item.

The credit card number and user’s name and expiration date are still contained on the face (or increasingly, the back) of the card, and an EMV chip (Europay, MasterCard, and Visa chip) may still be included, to provide added security in transactions. Overall, having a contactless chip and/or an EMV chip, and a magnetic strip allows the cardholder to complete transactions on a wider variety of machines in a highly secure manner.
